MISSION POSSIBLE by Brian Stewart

On The Go Daily Devotional for November 30, 2009

MISSION POSSIBLE by Brian Stewart

"I, even I, have spoken; yes, I have called him. I will bring
him, and he will succeed in his mission." Isaiah 48:15

Brian wrote a poem for a mission conference I was sharing at recently. He shared that He was blessed by missionaries and wanted to share his heartfelt emotions in a poem. When I heard the poem I just had to get permission to send it out to you. I pray God blesses you through his God given words. Enjoy, Keith

You dare to go where most will not,
And without hesitation.
Obeying what I've called you to,
No need for explanation.

It's just that kind of spirit,
That can turn this world around.
That level of commitment, child,
Is very rarely found.

Your selfless acts of love for those,
Whom you have never met.
Makes choosing you to do My work,
A choice I don't regret.

At times you risk your very lives
To spread My Holy Word.
You share with other nations
Something they have never heard.

What makes this mission possible,
Is that we are a team.
I know that working side by side
We can fulfill My dream.

You know my dream has always been,
That not one soul would perish.
Your helping to accomplish this,
I will forever cherish.

I thank you for your servant's heart,
For all that you have done
We shall not stop until we rescue
Each and every one.

Eternally yours, God

Daily prayer focus: Pray for missionaries all over the world today.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Finances of Team as they boldly go out for Jesus Christ. Pray that all their needs will be met at home and for the projects they are working on.

When God Comes Through by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 29, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

When God Comes Through by Keith Cook

"When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." Psalms 126:1-3

Have you ever needed a miracle? Have you ever wished upon a star or longed for the fortune in a fortune cookie to be true? Do you often find yourself daydreaming about some grand vision or dream you have for doing good? If this sounds familiar then do I have good news for you! God's word speaks to these kinds of situations.

Like A Dream

When God comes through for you it will not be a deliverance of chance or luck but a well organized and divinely directed plan for your success and His glory. The Bible says that when God comes through it will be like a dream. It will seem too good to be true. When God sends His deliverance you will personally feel such a great mental and emotional release. Wouldn't you like to have this happen today? It could, and one day it will!

Mouth Laughs

When God comes through for you your mouth will also laugh. In your spirit you will laugh. Joy will reside in your total being and will manifest itself through your mouth. Why not practice using your mouth to spread joy right now. Practice for when He comes through. It is so much better to be praising Him and to be joyous than "woeing" about your troubles and sad in your spirit. Go ahead and laugh. It is not presumption to laugh!

Tongue Shouts

You also will shout with your tongue, according to the scriptures, when God comes through for you. When you see the mighty hand of God working to deliver you it will cause you to shout. This is an uncontrolled expression of energy, passion, and courage. You will shout and your shouts will cause the demons to tremble because they have heard shouts of victory before and they know that these shouts from believers spell defeat and ruin for them.

Blessings Noticed

When God delivers you the world will also take notice. The blessings of God are really noticed by the world. The worldly and those who just simply live in the world will know and talk about what they see going on in your life. They also will naturally know that it is God's favor and not chance that has given you victory. When God comes down even carnal pagans recognize the divine.

Know It Is God Who Blessed

When the Lord really delivers you from whatever has been holding you down it is important for you to understand in your heart that it was and is God who is delivering you. Do not depend on chance, luck, pity, or self. When He blesses you know in your heart that your Father in Heaven has come through for you.

Daily Prayer: Talk with God concerning areas of your life where you need a miracle. Believe Him for your release and deliverance.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Safety In Travel for each On The Go staffer and GoTeam volunteer.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Less Of Me and More of Him by Joan Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 28, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Less Of Me and More of Him by Joan Cook

³Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.² 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Daily I am reminded that I am not perfect. I say and do things that are not pleasing to God or to man. I don't mind so much not pleasing man, but the thought of not pleasing God really bothers me, and it should. You see, more often than I'd care to admit, my mouth jumps ahead before I think. I react to situations and people in a way that is not characteristic of how a follower of Jesus Christ should act. I intentionally and unintentionally respond in a way I am not proud of.

Why do I do this? Well, I continue to ask myself that question. When you know a better way, why do you choose to do the wrong thing? After a lengthy discussion with my husband recently, I was once again reminded that life is not all about me! It's so very nice to know that my husband treats me like it is, but I know better. Every time I mess up, I make a conscious decision to go against what I've learned in God's word. I choose to decide on my own what is best! What the best words are, what the best reaction is, what the best decision is. Now, as a Christian I am supposed to have the mind of Christ, so... what I say, do, and how I react should be like Christ. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way. At least not in my life. Because unfortunately, I don't always listen to that still, small voice of God and obey what He's telling me to do, but think Joan's way is better. And sometimes it does "feel" better to do things my way! Ha, I'm old enough now to know that you cert!

ainly can't count on your "feelings" to guide you the right way!

Anyway, I said all that to say that as a follower of Christ who knows there is a much bigger agenda than I can even comprehend, I must be aware of how my words, my looks, my actions and my reactions affect people for eternity! It doesn't matter if I am so right about something, but say it in a way that turns everyone off from listening to the truth I am telling. Just me being right doesn't help anyone if I can't convey that truth in a way that they can relate to and understand.

My prayer today is that I will strive to become like the one who convinced others to believe in Him, not by just His words but by His Life! I want to be more like Jesus!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will mold you and fashion you to be more like Jesus!

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Interns who faithfully come to On The Go each year to work for Christ and learn how to do ministry that matters for the kingdom of God.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

THANKS-LIVING part 2 of 2 by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 26, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

THANKS-LIVING part 2 of 2 by Keith Cook

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus" Philippians 2:5

Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time with your friends and family. God is with you. If you missed part one of this devotion on Thanks-living go to our web site www.onthego.org for a full copy.

12. THANK GOD FOR USING YOU IN EVERY PLACE AND EVERY WAY

"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place." 2 Corinthians 2:14

God wants to use you to help people around you. He will give you knowledge and wisdom. Ask Him for divine wisdom and provision. God can use you in the office, at school, at home, in ways way beyond your human capacity. Thank Him for this honor.

13. THANK GOD FOR GOOD FRIENDS WHO SHOW THEY CARE

"But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you." 2 Corinthians 8:16

God has blessed you with friends and family who encourage and inspire you to live for God and excel in life. Thank God for each of them. Do not be afraid of sharing with others. It will help you expand your ministry and service to God. People working together get more done than those going through situations alone.

14. THANK GOD FOR HIS DIVINE GIFT

"Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." 2 Corinthians 9:15

The gift you have been given is inexpressible. Words cannot describe this gift or its importance to you. When Jesus came and paid the penalty for your sin on the cross you were given the capacity to receive this ultimate gift. Thank God for this gift of life in Jesus.

15. THANK GOD FOR THOSE DOING GOOD

"For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;" 1 Thessalonians 3:9

Thank God for all the Missionaries and Ministries that are working for the Kingdom around the globe. They deserve your praise and thanks. Thank God and think of them often. You can join them in service. You can support their service by volunteering or by giving to their needs. Thank the Lord for these Saints.

16. THANK GOD IN ALL THINGS

"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Many things in life are not fair. The Bible says it rains on the just and the unjust. It is hard to thank God in the middle of pain and tragedy but it helps heal us and get us through the situation. Thank God for His love and comfort. Thank Him for knowing how to get you through all that you are going through.

17. THANK GOD FOR GIVING US AN INHERITANCE

"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:" Colossians 1:12

Heaven is awaiting all who know Christ. You can thank Him for all He has for you in Heaven. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for you. This place is not like any in this world. In Heaven you will have no pain, no sorrow. There will be no more problems to solve. There will be no more bills to pay. Thank God for this inheritance that Jesus provided for you.

18. THANK GOD YOU CAN WORK FOR HIM

"And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." Colossians 3:17

There is great joy in being able to work and live up to all the potential God has for you. He has a plan for you and wants your life to be productive. There is no way to lose in life if Jesus is your way, your truth, and life.

19. THANK GOD CHRISTIANS ARE ALL BOUND TOGETHER IN ONE BIG FAMILY

"But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:" 2 Thessalonians 2:13

God has given many unique and special manifestations of His church in this world. Do not be afraid to thank him for your friends in other Christian churches and ministries. All who call on Christ are in the same family. You do not have to give up your uniqueness in order to appreciate their value to Christ's cause. Thank God for the family.

20. THANK GOD FOR THE HONOR OF PRAYING FOR ALL MEN

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;" 1 Timothy 2:1

God wants you to pray for those in authority over you as well as those who do not call on the name of Jesus. The Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, Mormons, Spiritists, New Agers, Atheists. He wants you to pray for their needs, appreciate them, honor them and seek to win them. This is a great honor. Thank Him for entrusting you with this worthy call to pray.

Of course you are to especially pray for believers. Pray for their needs. Pray for them to have confidence to do what God is calling them to do.

21. THANK GOD NOT JUST ON THANKSGIVING or SUNDAYS

"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." Hebrews 13:15

Thanks-living is a 365-day a year job of every Christian. Everyone should be thankful to God for all He does for them and show their thankfulness everyday.

22. THANK GOD FOREVER

"Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned." Revelation 11:17

One day you will live forever in Heaven. You will join the angels is praising God for eternity. Why not practice being in Heaven today by thanking God for all He has done for you.

Daily Prayer Focus: Thank God for all He has given you today.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go¹s GoCamp ministry that trains believers all over the world how to share their faith.

Cover The Globe by Keith Cook

Daily Devotion for November 27, 2009

Cover The Globe by Keith Cook

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

As Christians we need to Cover the Globe.

How can we do this?

1. In Prayer - In Prayer we must climb to new heights and take our battle not just to the earth but into the heavenly places. We can win this battle in advance and on our knees.

2. In Scope - In Scope we need vision to reach every inhabited part of the earth. Our task is not done until we reach each one with the Good News.

3. In Love - In Love we must go to every people and ethnic group. Taking Christ into hard to reach and difficult areas proves we care and are not content to just sit around and wait for Jesus to come and get us out of here. In love and kindness we can bless all those that we come in contact with.

4. In Wisdom - In Wisdom we also must reach into urban and inner city areas. The wise and prudent thing to do is not to just focus on the rural and pocket areas where we have open doors now. We must attack our lack. We need to go to the cities and confront the needs and opportunities that are there. They may be massive but if we "multiply" our efforts by networking with other local churches and ministries we can affect change anywhere!

5. In Courage - In Courage and with faith we must go to the Resistant Belt (10/40 Window). Right now in our culture's history it would be easy to forget and say "what's the use" to reaching into "hostile" areas of our world. But Jesus came into our world to redeem it. We are sent out to the entire world. We must go and represent our Jesus around the world.

Start to cover the globe today, be a global Christian!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will continue to open your eyes through prayer, scope, love, and wisdom.

THANKS-LIVING part 1 of 2 by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 25, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

THANKS-LIVING part 1 of 2 by Keith Cook

For the next two days I want to lead you in a time of thanks to God. Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time with your friends and family. God is with you.

1. THANK GOD BY GIVING HIM CREDIT FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE

"Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people." 1 Chronicles 16:8

Pride leads to claiming credit for things we have not done or earned. Let Jesus have the glory in all that He has done for you. He has given life, health, security, provisions, and peace.

2. THANK GOD IN SONG

"And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid." Ezra 3:11

A cheerful heart is a blessing. Downcast and bitter lives bring defeat and sorrow. Praise and honor your Christ by your words, expressions, and even with a joyful song.

3. THANK GOD IN THE MARKETPLACE

"Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name." Psalms 18:49, 2 Samuel 22:50

Give Him credit for success and favor. The unbeliever or even the backslider that you work with needs to be reminded that God gives and God takes away. They need your positive expression of your faith and your constant admission and reminder that Jesus is directing your life. You are the best advertisement that most of your peers will ever see for a real Christian. Reflect all of Him.

4. THANK GOD UNTIL THE END

"To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever." Psalms 30:12

Never stop thanking God. Thank Him all through your life. Not just when you are young or when you are in success. Thank Him in every way, every day.

5. THANK GOD BY CELEBRATING COMMUNITY WITH OTHER BELIEVERS

"I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people." Psalms 35:18

Going to church and to Christian events helps you grow in Christ. You also help the faithful by your presence. You may inspire many people, both young and old. Do not give in to the temptation to go it alone. We are called to work and worship with others. It honors God when we do.

6. THANK GOD BY SHARING WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR YOU

"O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people." Psalms 105:1

Make sure you ask God for the desires and needs of your life. Do not be afraid to talk with God about every area of your life. Let Him in on the small things. Do not be afraid of letting others know how kind and good following Jesus really is. God wants to work on your behalf.

7. THANK GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS AND MERCY

"Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever." Psalms 106:1

God's hand of mercy is on us all the days of our lives. Thank Him for sparing you from danger and directing your steps. He has been good to you. Do not forget all that He does for you. The air you breathe, the family you have, the skills you have been given are all from God.

8. THANK GOD FROM HOLINESS

"Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence." Psalms 140:13

In order to really thank God you have to be living for Him in your public and private life. Live Holy and you will have much to thank God for. Live for self and in sin and you will forfeit most of your benefits in Christ.

9. THANK HIM EVEN WHEN IT MAY COST YOU

"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime." Daniel 6:10

There are going to be times when your desire to serve and praise God will cost you. Even if serving God is politically or socially incorrect the command has been given to thank Him. Daniel knew the secret of thanking God in the midst of hard situations. He did not stop praising God even though the law said it was illegal.

10. THANK HIM WHEN YOU NEED A MIRACLE FOR WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND

"And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude." Matthew 15:36

When you need God to come through for you make sure you look for the things He has given you. God often makes you be a part of the answer to your prayer. Your joy and thankfulness will be great when God allows you to see His mighty hand work through you.

11. THANK GOD FOR HIS VICTORY IN JESUS

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57

When you and Jesus show up in a situation you win. God will lead you in the victory you need over every situation. Thank Him for victory over sins, habits, situations, and needs. God has won, in Christ, a mighty victory. Positive thinking nor material prosperity have anything to do with victory. Victory comes from living in His victory all the time.

Daily Prayer Focus: Thank God for all He has given you today.

On The Go Prayer Focus: All the Ministry Partners, Missions, Missionaries that On The Go ministers with. It takes team work to make the dream of reaching the world a reality.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Paul's Example for Ministry by Keith Cook Jr.

On The Go Daily Devotions for November 22, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Paul's Example for Ministry by Keith Cook Jr.

"For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake." 1 Thessalonians 1:5

Paul honors the church of the Thessalonians by describing them as imitators of himself, Silvanus, Timothy and most of all, Christ Jesus. Paul states that the word came to them with Power, the Holy Spirit, and Full Conviction.

How did the Word come to them with these three things?

There are two explanations:

1. Because of the Thessalonians work of faith, labor of love, and steadfast hope.

2. Because of the true example of Christ shown through Paul.

A relevant question would be, "How did they do works of faith and labor in love with steadfast hope?"

One would have to look at the example of Paul for it was because of Paul that the Word came to them in the first place.

If the one spreading the Word has these three characteristics, an obvious conclusion would be that it would spread with the Word. The apostles brought it with them.

This brings us to the most important question, HOW? How was Paul able to bring it with him? 1 Thessalonians chapter two holds the explanation.

When Paul and the other apostles came to the Thessalonians, Paul said:

1. We did not come in vain
2. We did not come with flattering speech
3. We had no pretext for greed
4. We did not seek the glory from men but from God

These four things equal power, Holy Spirit, and full conviction. One cannot have these four things and not lead a life close to God. It just comes with the territory. These are men who could have easily used their status to exercise their right toward all of these bad qualities but they did not.

You see when you don't go in vain, you know you have the purpose of God and the direction of God's Spirit. You have confidence in His Word to you. You have courage to follow Him even into hard situations and unknown circumstances. Your service is not in vain or without purpose. Your purpose is His purpose and this leads to Spiritual Power.

When you don't go with flattering speech, but you speak the Word with clarity in a way that would honor God and not yourself, God will give you the Holy Spirit and Convictions will be realized.

When you don't seek the glory of men but you seek God's Glory, it doesn't matter what happens - If 1 or 1,000 people follow you - God will honor you and your ministry because you are Pleasing Him.

When you start to give God the ultimate glory with your words, actions and abilities, you begin to imitate Christ. When you imitate Christ, you train up strong believers everywhere that will do what the Church of Thessalonica did in 1 Thessalonians 3:1.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for opportunities to share the Word of God with clarity in a way that will honor God.

On The Go Prayer Focus: Those who need to make decisions for Christ as On The Go and the Keith Cook Team shares the Gospel around the world. Pray that they will hear a clear message about Christ, that the Holy Spirit will move them to a point of decision and that they will be bold enough to publicly respond for Christ.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

How Not To Be A Servant by Keith Cook

How Not To Be A Servant by Keith Cook

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves." Philippians 2:3

In our modern world of self-promotion and self-centered actions it is hard to find many servants. If you asked most children what they want to be when they grow up they probably would not say a servant. But if you examine their list of job choices you would see a desire to do service type jobs such as a doctor, teacher, policeman, fireman, soldier, president, and missionary. All these jobs relate to serving others. If children are prone to want to serve, then why is it so hard to actually grow up and serve your fellow man. The answer might just lie in the fact that most servants do not make very much money or it cost too much money to get in a position of service.

A more down to earth application of servanthood can actually be applied to each of our lives no matter what our occupation. But before we can be a servant to others we have to get over some real hurdles in our emotional life that hinder our servanthood. Several of these are:

1. Pride - Pride keeps us from serving God and others.

2. Credit - Wanting credit neutralizes our effectiveness in serving others.

3. Comparison - Looking at others' and how they serve or work slows and limits our own service.

4. Covet - Wanting to do others tasks hurts the service we are called to do.

5. Neglect - Serving others too slow causes undue pain and suffering.

6. Avoidance - Not doing God's will produces godless results.

7. Casual - "Sloppy agape" or not putting forth your best effort is not pleasing to God and actually hurts the image of Christ in our society.

Daily prayer focus: Pray that you will rise to the level of a servant each day this week. Serve others and thus serve Christ.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go¹s World Outreach Center (WOC). This is our main office and training facility. Pray for God to protect the building, guard the mechanical and structural aspects of the facility, and use the facility for maximum eternal benefits.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Help by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 21, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Help by Keith Cook

"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." Matthew 25:34-36

Today our ministry will be out in the streets all day long bringing Thanksgiving pies and Gospel booklets to a neighborhood that we have adopted. We have been going into this area for the past seventeen years. We visit each month with a different neighborly outreach approach to win and make friends for Jesus. We have seen many wonderful miracles and great outpourings of Christ's love as we have shared with our friends in the neighborhood the love of Jesus.

Please pray for this neighborhood outreach and other neighborhood ministries that On The Go commits to reach out in. Pray for safety. Pray for favor and pray for success.

Thank you and God bless you for caring enough to share in this ministry with us.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for Keith Cook and the entire On The Go team as they take trained volunteers into the inner city of Nashville today to share Christ's love to make a difference in their generation.

Happy Birthday by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 20, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Happy Birthday by Keith Cook

Today is my wife's birthday. Joan is supposed to get gifts today. They are supposed to tell her and express how much people love and appreciate her. While they will make her day more exciting because she loves receiving funny and unique gifts they will in no way actually reflect her friends real love for her.

While Joan is supposed to be the one receiving gifts on her birthday she really is the greatest gift of November 20 because she keeps on giving and giving of herself to all she meets. She constantly tries to brighten up everyone's day and their lives. She never meets a stranger and is happy to be the first one to share a funny story.

When God allowed Joan to be born on earth He must have known how much her kind of joy and mischief would be needed in the circles He would have her living in. As her husband I could not think of a more unique and fun person to grow old with. Happy Birthday My Love.

In 1850 Fanny Crosby was converted on the day we celebrate Joan's birthday. While she was not born during Fanny's time of ministry she does share her zeal and passion for ministry. She said her conversion "plants a star in her heart that no cloud ever eclipses." Joan is a shinning star that decorates all her friends' lives. She is a reflection of Jesus.

Before you go about your day I am sure you could think of several special people who are in your life. Why not give them a gift of yourself today. Call them or write them and tell them that you are giving them an early birthday present that you hope reflects the joy they give you. Tell them how much they mean to you and how much they make your life complete.

Happy Birthday Joan Cook

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for zeal and joy to serve the Lord wherever you are planted. Also Pray for Joan, she is worthy of your prayers.

On The Go Prayer Focus: All the local churches, committees, and leaders who will be working with On The Go Ministries and the Keith Cook Team in creative outreach efforts in the United States and around the world.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Stand In The Gap part 3 by Keith Cook

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

God is Searching For Someone To Build On The Wall
God is Searching For Someone To Stand in the Gap
God is Searching For Someone To Provide Godly Strongholds

Today let's look at the Battle Plan For Godly Strongholds - 2 Corinthians 10:3-7

1. War and fight in the Spirit not the flesh. (verse 3)

a. Take thoughts captive - Let the Spirit control your mind.

b. Pull down strongholds - Let the Spirit guard your heart and emotions.

c. Cast down imaginations - Let the Spirit guard your actions, seen and unseen.

2. Make sure you use your spiritual weapons. (verse 4)

a. Prayer

b. Fasting

c. Spiritual Gifts

d. The Word of God

e. Exercising your faith

3. Look through spiritual eyes at the results and progress. Do not trust outward and emotional signs of success and progress. (verse 7)

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for wisdom in going after strongholds in your life. Ask God for a plan of action.

Also, pray for On The Go's Outreach Training Schools (OTS). In our OTS, young people and adults are trained to go to the next level in their service to God. Pray for On The Go as we train believers to make a difference in their generation.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Stand In The Gap part 2 by Keith Cook

"But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me." Ezekiel 33:6,7

God is Searching For Someone To Build On The Wall
God is Searching For Someone To Stand in the Gap
God is Searching For Someone To Provide Godly Strongholds

Today let's look at Standing in the Gap

To Stand in the Gap means:

1. Pulling together God's provision for Man's needs.

We are to bring the love of God and God's provisions to bear on all the needs we find. The Christian should take this challenge seriously. God is able. God is always present but God chooses to work out His plan through His called and chosen ones. That is you and me. Let's get to work!

2. Aggressively Fighting for God's agenda.

Today is not a time to sit by and let the cultural elite rule the day. Christians should actively be engaged in every area of society. We need to be salt and light to our peers and in our communities. We often get what we deserve when we do not voice our opinions or register our complaints and solutions. Bring Jesus up in your everyday conversations. Take Biblical solutions to the marketplace and into the halls of government.

Decide today to stand in the gap!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will enable you to stand in the gap for your children, friends, culture, country, and faith.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The 30 Minute Radio & Podcast Program "On The Go with Keith Cook". This is a weekly program airing over the internet, short wave, and radio stations. Each week Keith relates creative ways to share Christ. Pray for Keith, Joan, the On The Go Staff, and special guests as they minister on these broadcasts. You can hear these programs via our website if it is not available in your area.

Stand In The Gap part 1 by Keith Cook

"And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." Ezekiel 22:30

God is Searching for a Man. In these three passages it says that God is looking for a man or woman to do three very important things for Him.

1. God is Searching For Someone To Build On The Wall

2. God is Searching For Someone To Stand in the Gap

3. God is Searching For Someone To Provide Godly Strongholds

To Build On The Wall has three main expressions: past, present, and future.

To Hold The Wall is the Present Need. God wants us to build our faith to hold onto what God has given us to work with today.

To Preserve The Wall is dealing with the Past. God wants us to learn from the past and use the lessons we have learned both good and bad.

To Build Up The Wall is focusing on the Future. God wants us to build up Godly strongholds to ensure that we have productive future ministries.

Take your place on God's wall of service. Build on the wall God has given you. Jesus will be with you.

Daily prayer focus: Pray that God will lead and guide you so that you can faithfully build the wall God has given you!

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go's Outreach Training Schools (OTS). In our OTS, young people and adults are trained to go to the next level in their service to God. Pray for On The Go as we train believers to make a difference in their generation.

We Serve a Great God! by Joan Cook

On The Go Daily Devotional for November 16, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

We Serve a Great God! by Joan Cook

"Your, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all." 1 Chronicles 29:11

I was recently reading a book by Anne Graham Lotz when I came across these interesting facts that clearly tell what a great God we serve.

There are 400 billion stars in the Milky Way Galaxy.
The closest galaxy to us is 978 trillion miles away.
Astronomers estimate more than 100 billion galaxies.
Each galaxy has 100 billion stars.
Each star has been personally hung by the Creator, who has not only numbered them, but knows each of them by name.

Wow! What a great God we serve! He's not only great in the big things, like a galaxy, but also in the very small, insignificant things.

God placed a sponge-like pad between the head of a woodpecker and it's bill to absorb the shock when the bird strikes a tree. How extraordinary to know we serve a God that cares about a little woodpecker not knocking himself out when he pecks on a tree!

If you know you serve such a great God, why don't you share Him with others today? Indeed, the Lord is great and worthy to be praised!

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for an opportunity to share with someone today about the Great and Mighty God you serve.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go¹s USA Outreach Effort. God has placed a United States effort on the heart and mind of the On The Go Team. Three key objectives are sharing, praying, and training in every county in the USA using On The Go Advance Teams, Training Teams, Planning Teams, Prayer Teams, GoTeams, and Outreach Efforts.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Mystery of Evangelization by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 15, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Mystery of Evangelization by Keith Cook

"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going." John 3:8

For nearly thirty years I have studied, read, dreamed, and done evangelism. I have seen almost every fad and gimmick known to man on how to get people's attention, promote the message, and call for a decision for Christ.

Every year it seems that the evangelism section of my local Christian bookstore gets smaller and the emphasis given to evangelism by local churches, associations, denominations, and mission boards seems less emphatic. While this amazes me, it is not a mystery. I understand human nature. I am a student of history. People can "do church" without doing evangelism. Real evangelism takes risk, vision, insight, leading, and heart.

There is a Mystery to evangelism.(1) The Spirit moves as He sees fit. I often tell churches and crusade audiences that I do not bring revival in my suitcase. Revival and life breaks out in the strangest places and in the strangest ways.

There is Mystery in what Happens when the Spirit moves. You never really know what someone can do under the direction of the Holy Spirit until He actually invades the life and actions. When the Spirit moves often there are tears of joy or tears of pain. Rejoicing and combating, going out to do God's will and allowing God to direct. It is a mystery, but a mystery worth following.

There is Mystery in that God can use us to do His will. Is it not amazing that God would consider using us to spread His Message when He has angels and qualified individuals more holy and worthy than we are, yet, He still chooses to use us to share His love. It is amazing and confounding!

There is Mystery in what God allows to Happen. Why did 9/11 have to happen? Why does there have to be pain and suffering? Why did a dear servant of God die of cancer when they were doing so much good? Why does God bless one ministry with funding while others seem to have very little? Why did one man come to Christ at an early age and another on his deathbed? It is a mystery that requires faith and trust in God alone for our direction.

There is also a Mystery about the kind of evangelist God would have us all be. Before we can effectively do anything for God we must be something.

We must be a true believer!
We must be a person of integrity!
We must be a student of prayer and the Word!
We must be a servant of Jesus!

The right combination of servant-hood is to be and do at the same time. Be in Christ as you share Christ!

While it is a mystery that God can and will use us, it is in His Word that we are assured that He will use us if we will be obedient servants. Mysteriously serve Jesus with your life. Amaze your friends! Amaze yourself! Even amaze the Devil, keep him guessing as to what you will do next.

(1) Original idea for this outline came from my teaching series of lessons from the Worldwide Perspectives Materials by Meg Crossman, page 166.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for Boldness and Courage as you actively seek opportunities to carry out the Great Commission.

On The Go Prayer Focus: On The Go¹s Performing Arts Team. Pray for our team as we minister through drama, puppets, interpretive dance, and music. Our Performing Arts Teams are made up of volunteers and On The Go staffers who travel around the USA to local churches and events sharing the Good News.

At Least Once by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 14, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

At Least Once by Keith Cook

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16

The gospel of Jesus Christ is worth sharing. I personally believe everyone should hear the "Good News" at least once! Why not commit to do your part in sharing Christ with your friends and neighbors.

If you want to be successful in presenting Christ you should make sure you put forth your best effort. Make sure the Christ you are sharing is:

Presented Clearly - Easy to understand with language that speaks to the heart and mind.

Communicated Effectively - Shared with emotion, integrity, and with conviction.

Culturally Relevant - A message that meets real heartfelt needs.

Biblically Solid - The real message of Christ's love and plan for all mankind.

If you keep these four suggestions in mind you will be more successful in sharing Christ. If some people only have one opportunity to hear the message of Christ then you should make sure it is clear, effective, relevant, and Biblical. Take every opportunity to share Jesus. One day when you and all the people you have shared Christ with and who accepted Christ are in Heaven you will be glad you took the time and put forth the effort to be used of God in this way.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will open your eyes to the spiritual needs of those around you and for the opportunity to share Christ with someone today!

On The Go Prayer Focus: Keith Cook¹s Hands-On-Training Events. This is our Outreach Training School on the road. Keith and the On The Go Team share all across the USA and Worldwide in fun and creative ways that people can serve Jesus and make an impact in this generation!

Thank you for taking the time to pray for this important division of On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Just Calm Down by Keith Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 13, 2009
Brought to you each day by
Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Just Calm Down by Keith Cook

If you want Jesus to use you I would like to give you a simple way to relax and let God take control. The Lord will guide you if you just calm down.

Some simple ways to calm down are to:

1. Clear Your Mind - Clear. Take your mind off outside distractions. Focus on the task at hand

2. Make Your Heart Available - Available. Let the Holy Spirit have your heart. Be available to His leading all throughout the day.

3. Have A Loving Spirit - Loving. Let the Love of Jesus control you. Pour out His love on the world.

4. Maintain A Ministering Mindset - Ministering. Look for opportunities to minister all day long. Don't say "Should I minister" but "How can I minister."

Can Authorities Be Wrong? by Keith Cook Jr. and Keith Cook Sr.

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 12, 2009

Can Authorities Be Wrong? by Keith Cook Jr. and Keith Cook Sr.

"Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16

Many times the church and individual Christians have had to stand up and be counted in the midst of great opposition and even persecution. Lessons from the past can prepare us for the struggles of our future. If we learn from the past we may even be able to avoid the horrible consequences of letting evil men and women control entire communities with Godless laws and immoral rulings.

Politicians, teachers, mayors, school boards, and even pastors can all be wrong. These governmental and community reigns of terror can be avoided if Christians will pray and seek God's will for their public and private lives. Being involved and taking a public stand can help move people in a Godly direction.

Karl Barth was one of the most significant Protestant theologians of the twentieth century. He said "Jesus Christ, such as Scripture bears witness of Him for us, is the one Word of God the we must hear, the Word we must trust, and the Word we must obey in life and death." It is obvious that he was so actively opposed to horrible treatment of the Jews during WWII. He felt so strongly that he was "dismissed from a teaching post in Bonn for refusing to salute or show loyalty to Hitler."

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was also an advocate on behalf of the Jews. His opposition helped many Jews to escape into Switzerland. He helped members of the military resistance draft memoranda on a future democratic government should the regime be toppled. After many years of struggle against Hitler he was arrested and hanged in the concentration camp at Flossenburg on April 9,1945. His death showed that he was willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice so that God could work through his life to help the Jewish people.

Among the Catholics there were still a few who could not stand by and let innocent people be killed. One man, Father Litchenbuerg, was one that refused to be silent. "He had publicly spoken out against Nazi policies, ending each Mass with prayers for intercession on behalf of the Jews. Litchenberg was eventually arrested and served 2 years of penal servitude, upon his release he was arrested again and died on route to Dachau.

These people and their Churches helped countless numbers of Jewish people as they were trying to flee the country. These and so many more that we may never know about took on the call to action and decided that they could not watch the Nazi's take over not only the Jewish people's lives but the lives of the Christian church as well. It is impossible to realize how many were affected by the actions of these Godly people in their effort to save the Jewish people from their persecutions.

Daily prayer focus: Pray that you will have the courage to stand up and serve Jesus and your fellow man even if it is not politically correct or profitable.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial needs of people hurting all over the United States and Worldwide. As God gives us opportunity in times of crisis we need to rapidly move to help.

Thank you for taking the time to pray for On The Go Ministries. For more information on any our ministries here at On The Go, you may send your questions to info@onthego.org.

Should We Stand Against Injustice? by Keith Cook Jr. and Keith Cook Sr.

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 11, 2009

Keith Cook Evangelistic Association / On The Go

Should We Stand Against Injustice? by Keith Cook Jr. and
Keith Cook Sr.

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32

Throughout the rise of Nazism in the 1930's there were many who opposed the movement led by Adolf Hitler. Churches along with many individuals stood up for the Jewish people while they were being brutally persecuted. "Nazism infiltrated the Protestant Churches under the banner of the German Christians (Deutsche Christen) movement. The "German Christians" sprang up throughout protestant parishes. The organization advocated the creation of an "Aryan Paragraph" in church synod that would prevent non-aryans (Jewish converts) from participating, ministering, or teaching within the churches. However, there were some church officials who opposed the movement."(1) Some of the churches involved in the resistance against the Nazi's were the "Confessing Church". By resisting to Hitler's plan they were faced with severe persecution. This however never stopped them from standing up for Jews while saving many of their lives in the process.

The Confessing Church was started by Martin Niemoller after he developed the Pastors' Emergency League in 1933. This league was developed after Niemoller realized that Hitler was indenturing the Gospel with the Nazi ideology.

Niemoeller said, "First they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was not one left to speak for me!"

His early passivism is what drove him to start the Pastors' Emergency League because he had stood by long enough. Niemoeller began this emergency league because he saw that many churches were taking oath with Hitler. He could not confess his oath to Hitler because he did not feel that it would be what Jesus would do if he were in the same position. The Pastors' Emergency League soon became the Confessing Church that had very prominent members who also vowed to stand opposed to the Aryan law. Some of the most predominant members were Karl Barth and Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

In our time it is also important for us to stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves. (The poor, the battered, the neglected, and even those of other religions who are being persecuted.) It is the Christian thing to do. It is the right thing to do. It is what Jesus would have us do.

If we see someone throwing a brick through a Muslim's shop we should stop them. If we see someone abusing someone because of their race or sexual practices, we should confront them with the error of their ways. If we can not persuade them to stop then we may be forced to report them to those in our community who can. We may actually one day be called upon to stop injustice or fight for what we know is right.

A vocal church can often stop uninformed masses if they speak with one voice and speak clearly the message of Christ. But even if the whole Christian community does not rise up at injustice, you can. Jesus led his small band of believers to turn the world upside down. He can do the same thing through you.

Daily prayer focus: Pray for courage to always do the right thing in the face of injustice.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The Innovative Evangelism Conference in Portland, Oregon. Pray for each evangelist in attendance that they will be challenged to reach the lost effectively for Christ. This week is a wonderful activity to network together and strategize to reach the lost with the Gospel of Christ. Pray for Keith and Joan as they will be leading seminars today and tomorrow on missions, evangelism, leadership, and marriage.

Christians Are Back In The Lions Den by Keith Cook

Christians Are Back In The Lions Den by Keith Cook

"But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen." 2 Timothy 4:17,18

Recently, the liberal press and left-wing fanatics are tearing up the airways and presses trying to destroy Christians and people of faith. Like a gagged lion they are striking out at anyone who comes near. Their venom and anger does not seem to have an end. They are attacking Christians, Conservatives, Southerners, Religious, Hispanics, Blacks, Whites, Rich, Poor, Soldiers, Republicans, Talk Show Hosts, and on and on it goes.

I have included quotes from other sources to help point out how serious the problem really is. It is amazing that intelligent, educated, social people can come unglued so fast. So many people are so mad at God and His standards that they cannot stand to be confronted with their sin, short coming, ignorance, or needs. "All have sinned" not just poor uneducated southerners!

Garry Wills writes in the New York Times, "Can a people that believes more fervently in the Virgin Birth than in evolution still be called an Enlightened nation?" He ends by saying that "moral zealots" will scare moderate Republicans with their "jihads". (William Donohue)

The Washington Post's E.J. Dionne swung wildly at windmills blasting away at the "exploitation of strong religious feelings" and the "radical efforts to destroy the achievements of progressive government." (Joe Scarborough)

The New York Times, Gary Hart proclaims, "There is a disturbing tendency to insert theocratic principles into the vision of America's role in the world." (William Donohue)

DeWayne Wicham of USA Today, "Putting God in the public square runs the risk of turning our democracy into a theocracy."

Ellen Goodman, with the Boston Globe, says people like her "don't want their country racked by the fundamentalist religious wars we see across the world." (William Donohue)

Author Barbara Ehrenreich, said we are polarized because of "Christian fundamentalism."

Cynthia Tucker, editorialist at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, blames "black churchgoers" for using the Bible "as a bludgeon" against gays, saying "homophobia" now "oozes across lines of color".

Catholic League president William Donohue says that examples, taken from today's newspapers and Internet sites, prove we need to build more asylums.

(Quotes are from the internet - thanks to William Donohue, The Catholic League, Joe Scarborough, and others)

Jesus said that we would be persecuted, so cheer up. We are!

When does it ever feel good to be picked on? Never, but we have a great example of what to do when picked on. Jesus should be our guide and example.

What would Jesus do?

1. He would forgive them - because He is love not hate.
2. He would try to heal them - anger, pain, rejection, fear, and uncertainty are all signs of spiritual needs.
3. He would not strike back at them - the created is still rebelling against it's creator.
4. He would try to bless them - if they would let Him.
5. He would let them spitefully use Him - but still defeat them. God will ultimately triumph over evil and rule and reign. His death on the cross sealed sin's fate.
6. He would pray for them - pray for their enlightenment and understanding, pray for their eyes to be opened.
7. He would save them - if they called on His name to be saved.

What should we do?

1. Forgive those who act rude, curse us, or rail against God.
2. Let Jesus direct you to bring healing and hope to those who are hurting.
3. Turn the other cheek and refuse to lash out in anger. Demonstrate the love of Jesus.
4. Bless those who curse you and use you. Do something good for the ungodly.
5. Be strong enough to rise above petty differences and do what you know is right. Take a stand against sin, godless policies, and injustice.
6. Pray for all who do not know Christ or who are using religion with an ulterior motive.
7. Let Jesus use you to win them to Christ. Never close a door to making friends for Jesus. Look for open doors to share Jesus.

May God bless you and direct you as you go out to do His will.

This is the opinion of the writer. Not an official stand of On The Go Ministries.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray for Unity in America. Pray that Christians will continue to stand up for their God Given Beliefs.

Friendship Goals by Keith Cook

Friendship Goals by Keith Cook

"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24

Today let your goal be to make some new friends for Christ's sake. In making friends and helping them come to Christ you may want to consider some things you may want to do. It is really quite simple.

You need to Stop - Stop what you are doing and take time to make a friend and actually try to see their personal needs.

You need to Look - Look for open doors to share your faith with them in a natural and relaxed way. Never force the issue of your faith.

You need to Listen - Listen to the Holy Spirit and listen to what you hear your new friend saying about their life, dreams, goals, and situations.

With these three things in mind you can make friends not just here but for eternity.

Daily Prayer Focus: Pray that God will allow you to make friends for Jesus today.

On The Go Prayer Focus: The "On The Go Daily² 2 Minute Radio & Podcast Program. Perfect Peace by Joan Cook

On The Go Daily Devotion for November 8, 2009

Perfect Peace by Joan Cook

"Peace, I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27

Recently, I was driving down the road and noticed an airplane making it's approach to land. I couldn't help but notice that even though it was a cloudy and windy day, the airplane seemed to be flying smoothly. Because I have flown many times, I knew that even though the plane may look like it's flying smoothly, more than likely, the passengers were experiencing a little turbulence on their landing approach, due to the weather.

Isn't that a lot like life? We may look at someone else's life and conclude that everything looks great from the outside, when in fact, their life may be filled with turbulence on the inside. In fact, you may be the person that everyone thinks has it all together, when on the inside, you fill like you are falling apart.

The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ has given us His peace. Not the kind of peace that the world can give, but the peace that passes understanding. In your turbulent situations, do not let your heart be troubled! Choose today to accept His peace into your life.

Daily Prayer Focus: Praise God for the perfect peace which can only come from God, our Father.

Questions For Modern Ministers by Keith Cook

Questions For Modern Ministers by Keith Cook

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears..." 2 Timothy 4:3

I have a few questions for modern day ministers, preachers, evangelists, and Christian workers. I will address each question to a particular style of expression of ministers on the scene in today's modern church culture. The category terms are used by the secular and religious media to describe certain types of ministers.

My reason for stating each category or type of minister in a general way is so we can see strengths and weaknesses, value and dangers, of each manifestation of leader without getting off on personalities and individuals. Character assassination is never "Christian" and should not be tolerated in any of today's ministers.

I do not have the right to correct or rebuke an individual without first going to the individual, praying with the person, and examining the scriptures in their presence in order to come to Godly conclusions and allow for restitution, resolution, and reconciliation. Then the Bible teaches that if the matter is not resolved then I am to bring it before the leaders of the church to try to go and do the same thing. Going public with my impressions and dislikes about another Christian is not Biblical. I fear much of our speaking on the radio, debating on the television, blogging on the internet, and publishing in books that names other Christians by name that we disagree with is counter productive to restoration and lasting revival in the church. Getting into camps and defending positions does not promote the Gospel but does cause division.

Here are my questions and observations:

1. Faith Healers

Is it really a lack of faith that keeps people from being healed or could it be that God gives mercy and grace even to those in sickness and health? What of the men and women mentioned in Hebrews who lived by faith, but had all kinds of misfortunes and even lost their lives? Could it be that the Bible teaches us to trust God in whatever state we live in? Wearing glasses, going to the doctor, taking medicine, praying for healing, and trusting God are all modern expressions of faith, not just being healed. Faith without works is dead. Presuming on God is not faith but folly. Hearing from God and believing the Word of God leads to faith and assurance.

Having preached around the world and seen God move others to faith in Christ as well as seeing God move in the area of healing has led me to understand the heart of those who have a gifting in the area of healing. I also know that there are millions of people who have faith, live right, are going to Heaven, who live their lives with certain infirmities and external situations that they have no control of. I have seen God heal the blind, provide funds, jobs, restore marriages and so much more. But I have also seen Him give peace to families who have just lost a loved one, comfort to those whose spouses never return, and deliverance by medicine and time.

2. Prosperity Preachers

Does it really make one more spiritual to be rich? Are God's riches for this world or are they spiritual in nature? The Bible teaches that God has a portion for each of us. God does not want us to live below the portion or provision He has for us, but this is not the same thing as claiming riches and demanding God provide desires and soulish impressions.

God does want to bless us. He wants to give us good gifts. His riches are everlasting and His benefits are astonishing. In Biblical times Jesus taught slaves how to live right even while being slaves. He did not promote slavery but did not tell slaves to just give all their money away and they will be a master too. He taught them how to live for God in whatever state they found themselves. He taught fishermen how to let down their nets for a catch that blessed them with great temporary wealth but then later asked them to give it all up and come follow him. He told them they would not have a place to rest, live a hard life, even loose their life. That does not sound to prosperous to me - yet it made them the richest men in history. Wow, God's view of prosperity is being in the center of His provision for us. What a great place to be. Knowing that God will provide is much better than trying to get rich and do it all on your own strength.

3. Relational Ministers

Just making friends for Jesus sounds good but does just being an example result in someone knowing the truth, hearing the truth and actually coming to faith in Christ. Jesus commanded us all to go into all the world and preach, teach, baptize, bless, help, and inspire everyone. God has given all of us friends, opportunities, and situations that are a part of His divine plan for reaching all mankind with the message of Christ. If we fail to share the good news and simply wait until they are inspired by our life they may actually already be in the next life that would be in Hell.

4. Bible Thumpers

Jesus used stories, parables, examples, and love to share the message of salvation. Just knowing certain passages and forcing them on people does not result in salvation. Many simply agree with the message in order to get away from the messenger. Beating people up in Jesus name is not Good News, it is spiritual assault and battery and can result in disillusioned adults who obeyed commands earlier in life, but had no joy and abandon the faith.

5. Social Gospel Advocates

Just sharing a cup of water in Jesus name will not get people into Heaven. You can clean up a life, heal a body, comfort an emotional being, and give a hand up to all who have a need and still end up with respectable, healthy, happy, educated, and emotionally stable lost people. You must share the rest of the story. Jesus came to save sinners - who even the most educated and blessed are counted as! It may sound old fashioned but it is part of the whole Gospel.

6. Motivational Speakers

Positive thinking and feeling good about yourself and having a healthy self-esteem are vital to being a well balanced individual but being positive does not negate the fact that we are not basically good people - we are by nature and choice sinners. At our core there is the proof of our real state. Left to our own devices we do not get better. Education, wealth, power and position do not guarantee goodness - only self-righteousness. It is not what I think that is important but rather what God thinks of me. Only in Christ am I complete. It is only by repentance and dependence on Him that I can soar on wings like an eagle. It is not enough to be inspired by devotional preaching and the politically correct socially acceptable tickling of my emotions and soul - I need the truth. I need to hear the Word! I need to know what God says about everything!

7. Intellectual Teachers

Boring a generation with our knowledge or getting rational consent to premises is not Biblical salvation. It is not the law or even our understanding of the Word that brings life. It is Christ, drawing us by the power of the Holy Spirit that brings us to a place of repentance and acceptance of the claims of Christ. The emotions, joys, and relationships of life are all a vital part of knowing the fullness of Christ. God uses the combination of the intellect, the power of the Word of God, the encouragement of the saints, the filling of the Holy Spirit, and the daily presence of the Lord to motivate us to live and mature in Christ.

My wife, Joan, is a fantastic teacher of the Word. She spends over 40 hours preparing her lessons. She then is able to bring the Word to life. She is energetic, passionate, tender, and still very evangelistic and open to the moving of the Spirit. This kind of expression of the gift of the teacher is needed today. Not just the scholar who thinks they are better than others or knows something that most will never grasp. We need to know the Word, Share the Word, and Live the Word. Getting the Word out is so needed but not by Intellectual snobs.

8. Judgmental Prophets

Calling another minister a devil is not spiritual. Yelling at people as they enter meetings or screaming at them as they walk down the sidewalk that they are going to hell is not an effective way to win someone to Christ.

Knocking other forms of evangelism because they are fresh, modern, effective, or simply another way to get to the Word out is not Biblical. Jesus and the apostles used all forms of evangelism available in that day.

To some they shared one on one, others in small groups and some were relational while some were sensational.

Many shared with their families and friends while some dared go to the untouchables of their day.

God used mass evangelism, church programs, one on one, and divine appointments.

Some were challenged by Paul to look to the unknown God, whiles some were rebuked for being hypocrites. Some would say one method was "God has a wonderful plan for your life" and the other was "Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand'! One would be consider a soft approach while the other more confrontational. God used both. He still does today. Neither way left out any of the essential elements of coming to Christ. God just used the Holy Spirit to lead the messenger in what to say and when.

We need to stop judging others and simply share what God leads us to share. Never tear down another way to share Christ to elevate your favorite or preferred way.

9. Sloppy Agape Messengers

"Just believe - that's all you have to do..." "God loves you and will not send you to hell." " We all are working for the same thing." "All roads lead to heaven if you are sincere..." " Just pray this prayer and no matter what you do, you are going to heaven..."

I have been to meetings where the speaker stood and shared story after story - getting the crowd emotional and then at the end simply said pray this prayer with me and God will take you to heaven and your life will be wonderful from this night on. No more problems, no more worries" He never shared the gospel. There was reference to Jesus but not the penalty for sin, plight of sinners, condition of lost, God's way to salvation, need for Christ, benefits of faith in Christ, or steps to coming to real belief and trust in Christ.

There are no magic words that save. The sinners prayer is not magical - but calling out to God in faith believing in Christ with a Godly sorrow for ones sins and a total abandonment of one's whole being to God and trust in His leading does result in salvation. One does not have to say it right, understand it all, or feel anything, Yet salvation comes to them that really believe, repent, and call on the Lord.

10. Spirit Led - Bible Fed - God Called - Servant Leaders

I am sure there are other modern day expressions of ministers that I have left out. God wants us to have faith, trust Him for our portion, win all we have a relationship with, be bold, help the needy, inspire others to greatness, know the Word, not be polluted by the world, and really know what and in whom we believe. You see there is value to many of the personalities listed above - but there is also danger. Do not follow man but God. Put your trust in Him.

Preachers of the Gospel, teachers of the Word, modern day ministers - make sure you are listening to God and following His path for your ministry. Just because someone is on television, writes books, has a following are we to imitate them. We are to follow the Messiah, Jesus. Some of my closest friends are great authors and preachers. They inspire me to go to Christ and learn from Him. They never take the credit or promote themselves. They would never want to take the Glory that belongs only to Christ. And we should never give it to them - but to Him!

God is looking for servant leaders to lead his people to the truth. He is calling many to serve Him in these last days. He is needing them to become men and women of the Book - the Bible and He is needing them to be led by the Spirit.

It is my prayer that all of us that call ourselves ministers of the Gospel would really get a fresh word from God and share it His way, at His time, with His Power. Oh, now is the time to do more, try more, and see more than ever before. We live in such a Godless and perverse generation. Let us do our part in being in Christ so that as watchmen we watch and warn just as in Bible days!
